PORT DOVER (Dec. 15) -- Sandy Ciccarelli (pictured) scored twice to lead the Glanbrook Rangers to an 8-3 victory over the Port Dover Sailors.  The win was Glanbrook's seventh in a row and their fifth in five outings against the Sailors this season.  It also widened the Rangers' lead in the South Bloomfield Division to three points over the Grimsby Peach Kings, who now hold two games in hand on Glanbrook.

The Rangers controlled the contest from the outset, building up a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period on goals by Cooper Hood, his sixth of the season, and Matt Wright, then overwhelmed the Sailors in the second frame, firing 26 shots in that period alone and scoring five times.  Connor McQuhae kicked off the barrage with a power-play goal at 1:02, his 11th marker of the season, followed by goals from Ciccarelli, Dan Rocco and  Brennan Ireland with another power-play tally.  Ciccarelli closed out the account in the second period with a short-handed goal at 19:24.

Port Dover's Owen Kosovo managed to break the Rangers' monopoly on scoring in the second period with a pair of goals, but it did little to hinder Glanbrook's domination.

Noah Matteson scored his 21st goal of the season on another Rangers' man-advantage at 1:04 of the final frame, while George Kapralos replied for the Sailors at 15:08, long after the issue was no longer in doubt.   Mitchell Robinson won his ninth game of the season and his fourth start in a row with a 25-save performance.  The Rangers, meanwhile, ended up with 45 shots on Sailors' netminder A.J. Scala.

NOTES: Ciccarelli's short-handed goal was his team-leading second of the season and the team's seventh ... Wright also contributed a pair of assists for a three-point effort ... The Rangers hit the eight-goal mark for the fifth time this year, topping out with nine against Dunnville on Nov. 27.  Their 123 goals lead the Bloomfield Division by 29 over their closest pursuers (Hagersville and Port Dover, tied with 94).  ... Matteson topped the 20-goal plateau for the fourth consecutive season.  He now has 113 goals in 164 games for the Rangers. ... Glanbrook went 3-for-8 on the power play, one of the better performances for a unit that has underwhelmed for much of the season.  Their pp percentage now stands at  16.98, 33rd in the league and fifth in the Bloomfield Division.
