Date: May 11, 2022
The Civics are proud to announce the resigning of young Russian forward Ivan Subbotin who will be returning to New Tecumseth for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.
Subbotin, the 5’9” forward from Novosibirsk, Russia, will be rejoining the Civics following a season in which he appeared in 31 games despite being amongst the youngest players in the league and the youngest Civic on the roster. Subbotin was the highest scoring among Russian U17 players last season with 5 Points (3G, 2A) which also had him 19th among all U17 players and has him primed to make a bigger impact this upcoming season.
Civics GM and Head Coach was happy to have the young Russian forward coming back, “Having Ivan coming back is good for our team. Last season he came in as a 16 year old and did very well. The thing I like about Subbotin is that he is not afraid to ask questions to learn and make himself better. I’m confident he will help us have a great season.”
Subbotin joined the Civics out of the Sibir Novosibirsk U16 program in Russia and quickly established himself as an athletic talent in the room that is willing to work hard in order to become someone who can make an impact on the ice for New Tecumseth.
Subbotin himself touched on the work he has been putting in and what he expects from next season, “ Last season I came in and I was a very young player, coach gave me some opportunity and I put in a lot of work so that I can help the team win. I’ve been training this offseason to come back stronger, faster, and with a more developed knowledge of the game, my goal is to help our team win a title.
We are happy to have such a bright young face back in Civic Nation, and all of us hope that the hard work you have been putting in can help us win on the ice. Welcome back Ivan.
