Kitchener, Ont. – Team OMHA White defeated Team HEO in Game 9 of the 2018 OHL Gold Cup Saturday afternoon at Activa Sportsplex in Kitchener, Ontario.

Team OMHA White took an early lead in the first, seeing Ethan Sims score on the power play from Kalvyn Watson, Ben Roger and again just 4 minutes later by Luke Evangelista from Cameron Tolnai, Jackson Kirk.

The lone goal of the second belonged to Michael Tiveron from Team OMHA White thanks to assists from Cameron Tolnai, Ben Roger to extend the lead three, nothing.

Just over a minute into the third, Team HEO scored their first of the day thanks to Rocco Testa Basi, from Sean McGurn, Evan Boucher.

Team OMHA White extended their lead 6-1 with three quick goals in a row. First by Cameron Snow from Kalvyn Watson, Nathan Ribau. The second by Jackson Kirk, Jack Harper picking up the assist. And the final goal for Team OMHA courtesy of Logan Morrison, from Dawson McKinney.

Team HEO scored one more before the buzzed, thanks to Joshua Barnes, from Chazka Bush, Liam Cavan.

Players of the game were Kalvyn Watson for TEAM OMHA White and Rocco Testa Basi for TEAM HEO.

It was just great to get that win and play in the bronze medal game tomorrow,” said Kalvyn Watson for TEAM OMHA White. “The main goal is just getting better and better every period and we have worked on that throughout the week.”

The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase event featuring top under-16 talent in Ontario. As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
