Oakville, ON - The 2018 Major Lacrosse Series Schedule has been released with each team playing a total of 16 games, two games less than in previous seasons, which saw each team play 18 games total. The change was decided by league governors at a meeting in November.
"We were in favour of diminished schedule for the new season." said Assistant GM and Director of Lacrosse Operations Garett Chisholme. "Not all teams were, but for us, it was sometimes a battle to get a full roster every night, especially when you're asking guys to commit to a potential 14 game playoff run in August."
The altered schedule sees an unbalanced schedule with more games against the teams that are closer geographically. The Rock will play the Brampton Excelsiors, Six Nations Chiefs and Brooklin Redmen a total of 4 times each (2 Home, 2 Away). They'll play the Peterborough Lakers and Cobourg Kodiaks in a home and home to round out their schedule. They open the 2018 season at home against the defending Mann Cup Champion Centruy 21 Lakers on May 28th at 8PM. All home games will be played at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville. They wrap up the season on the road in Six Nations on July 31st. Playoffs will Commence the first week of August.
