South Boston, MA- Connor Berry scored a goal and recorded two assists, but the Boston Jr. Bruins fell to the Little Bruins in a hard-fought Mass Select League 18U battle on Sunday afternoon.

 

Gunnar Fontaine drew first blood for the Little Bruins when Devin Tongue sent him in on a breakaway while killing a penalty midway through the first period.

 

Powers made it 2-0 when he flew down the right wing and scored with 6:47 on the clock. Copeland assisted on the play.

 

The Junior Bruins cut the lead in half with 2:12 on the clock when Johnny McElaney and Matthew Egan set up Connor Berry down low. Little Bruins goalie C.J. McKennitt got a piece of the shot, but was unable to stop it as it slid into the net.

 

Less than a minute later, Powers knocked Kyle Kazeroid’s shot out of the air to restore the two-goal lead.

 

Andranik Armstrong pulled the Junior Bruins within one early in the second period when Berry hit him with a pass in the zone, skated around, and sent it top shelf.

 

Jack Studley made it 4-2 when he buried Ian Gindhart’s rebound with 2:22 remaining in the period. Copeland had the second assist.

 

A goal by Kyle Penney in the opening minute assisted by Egan and Berry pulled the Junior Bruins within one, but neither team found the back of the net and the game ended 4-3 in favor of the Little Bruins.
