LATE GOAL FORCES DEADLOCK IN 16U ALL-STAR GAME
Allston, MA- Riley Duran scored with 3:55 remaining in the final period to force a 2-2 tie in the 2017 Massachusetts Select League 16U All-Star Game.
Team American jumped out to an early lead when Anthony Messuri sent a pass from behind the net and it deflected off an opponent past National goalie Drew Commesso at 5:19.
With 5:25 to play in the period, Jack Garland tied the game with assists from William Tripp and Liam Gill.
Those would be the only goals given up by Commesso and Cameron Powell, who kept the game tied at one until the midway point of the second period, after which they were relieved by Joe Sharib and Ben Cunneen.
The new goaltenders picked up where the starters left off, as neither team was able to break the tie before the end of the frame.
Colin Graf scored a huge goal for Team American with 14:07 remaining when he took a pass from Brendan Jones and fired it at the net. Cunneen caught a piece of the shot, but the puck scooted past the goal line to make it 2-1.
Duran tied the game when he took a pass from Brendan Dumas at the top of the circle and ripped it past Sharib with 3:55 remaining.
The Massachusetts Select Hockey League would like to congratulate all players selected for the 2017 16U All-Star Game.
