Whalers 16U team picks up shutout win over Bruins

Dorchester, MA- Matt Beniers scored a goal and two assists to lead the Cape Cod Whalers to a 5-0 win over the Boston Jr. Bruins in Mass Select League 16 action on Saturday.

Cody Sealy opened the scoring with 8:14 remaining in the first period when took a pass from Brendan Dumas at the foot of the slot and redirected it past Bruins goalie Luke Strickenbach. Max Andrade also assisted on the play.

A Matt Beniers power play goal stretched the lead to 2-0 when he tipped in a pass from Peter Kramer with 1:21 on the clock.

Kevin McKay ripped a shot from the point with an assist from Beniers to give the Whalers a three-goal lead early in the second period.

Andrade scored with 2:40 left in the period with assists from Riley Duran and Jake Higgins to put the Whalers up 4-0 after two.

Ian Moore rounded out the scoring just over two minutes into the third period when he scored from Beniers
