Burlington, MA- Bruins Liam Kelly and Joe Noone each scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Boston Jr. Bruins 16U team over the Eastern Mass Senators on Sunday afternoon.

The Bruins came out flying in the opening frame, but Senators goaltender Aidan Kelly proved equal to the challenge, turning away all ten shots he faced in the period. For his part, Bruins goalie Luke Streckenbach kept the Senators off the board as well through the first 17 minutes.

The second period continued in much the same manner, as Kelly and Streckenbach continually frustrated the teams.

Senators Justin Harding came in to relieve Kelly, who turned in a tremendous 17-save effort for the Senators, with 7:41 on the clock in the second period.

With 4:17 to play in the period, Liam Kelly and Joe Noone set up Matthew Keohane in the slot and Keohane redirected the puck past Harding to give the Bruins the lead.

Thirty seconds later, Liam Kelly batted the puck out of midair into the net to make it 2-0. Hugh Curran assisted on the play.

Will van der Veen ripped a shot from the point with 1:32 left in the period to send the Bruins into the locker room with a 3-0 lead.

“We were frustrated by [Aidan Kelly] in the first period,” remarked Bruins forward Liam Kelly, “but we were able to keep getting the puck deep to keep everyone moving. We knew that if we did that, we’d be able to break through their defense and score.”

Twenty-four seconds into the final frame, Senators Will Garofoli scored from Nick Moniz to put the Senators on the board.

Harding skated off for an extra attacker with 1:26 to go, but Jr Bruins Joe Noone iced the game with an empty net goal.
