The Aviators fell behind early and their rally fell just short as the Vols win Thursday's night contest 12-10.

 

On the Mound- 

 

Takumi Hamamura (Merced College) took the loss today. He went 3 innings and gave up 4 runs. Joseph Saenz was able to toss two innings and relief recording 5 strikeouts. It was a very solid first summer performance for the right-hander. After Saenz came out, Brian Cardone (Trinity University) looked impressive, striking out both of the batters he faced in tonight's game. 

 

Game Summary-

 

In the batter's box, Jesus Duran ( Merced College) led the way, going 2-3 with a double, run and RBI. 

 

As the Aviators fought back in the ninth, Brad Bussard (Holy Names University) found his way on with a single, then Ryan Frakes (Merced College) earned a base on balls. With the bases loaded, Nikko Delgado (CSU Stanislaus) ripped a base clearing double to put the game- tying run at second base.

What's Next: The Aviators hit the road again for a doubleheader against Top Speed Baseball at Petaluma High School on Saturday. Drew Stahl (Modesto JC) and Matt Thomas (Trinity University) will get the starts for those games as Atwater looks to get back into the win column.
