Cardinals Re-Sign Local Slugger Renaud

LONDON – Murilo Gouvea threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout to lead the London Majors to a 1-0 win over the visiting Burlington Herd Friday night at Labatt Park.
Gouvea struck out 11 and walked one as he improved to 2-0. He has yet to give up a run in both starts and has a 21-1 K/BB ratio with only two hits allowed.
London's only run came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Tristan Buntrock scored on a passed ball with one out. The Majors had just two hits, as Cleveland Brownlee doubled and Chris McQueen tripled.
Adam Prashad (0-2) was the tough-luck loser, giving up a run on two hits with a pair of walks and 12 strikeouts in 7.2 innings.
Burlington's only hit came with one out in the sixth when Reese O'Farrell doubled to break up Gouvea's no-hitter.
London impoved to 5-0, and Burlington dropped to 0-5.
