Ann Arbor, MI - Eastern Michigan University Eagles Men's Hockey is happy to officially announce the Captains for the 2016-17 season.  Juniors Jimmy Peplinski and Lucas Linville will serve as Co-captains taking over for graduated forward Zack Willis.   Both having vast experience in some of the top junior hockey leagues across North America, Peplinski and Linville will be looked to lead the Eagles on and off the ice. When asked about the two, Head Coach Joe Allen stated "They are like ying and yang, with Pep (Peplinski) you get just natural speed and scoring ability that can take over a game, to go along with a vision to see developing plays in the offensive zone, Linny (Linville) on the other hand is more of a grinder that scores big goals, creates space with his size, and can thread the needle with precision passing; These two will be leaned on a lot this season." Allen added. Juniors Alex Untersberger, Luke Dymtro and Freshman David Bogart will serve as alternates.  Untersberger served as an alternate during the 2015-16 season and has been a staple in the Eagles defensive core for the past 2 seasons, bringing junior level experience, speed and a heavy shot." This season Bergs has the opportunity to really show the league what he's made of, he is our defensive leader and will be looked to perform in a major role." Allen stated. Dymtro entering this season, came into camp in the best shape and ready to work. Also bringing junior experience, speed, and physicality," Dymtro has a lot of potential this season, he is one of the hardest working guys on the ice, plays with an edge and will do stop at nothing to give the team a chance to win." Allen stated.  Rounding up the alternates is Freshman David Bogart, who came to the Eagles after finishing out a great junior hockey career with the Toledo Cherokee. Bogart also a defenseman will be looked to bring his experience, size, and shot to help back up Untersberger and the rest of the Eagles defensive core. When asked about naming a Freshman as an alternate captain?  Coach Allen stated " After 5 minutes on the ice with Bogart, you can tell he's a leader, a natural leader, he wants to win, period.  I feel bad for the guys that step in front of his shot, he hurts one of his teammates basically once a week. He will be leaned on to help shape the defensive unit, as well as lead the program for seasons to come."
