2016 Bantam Nationals: Day 5 Championship

DAY 5: 2016 CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES

Today is the day the championship battles begin. After four days of fast-paced competitive lacrosse, the teams duked it out for first place and the championship title!

Game 24:Team Nova Scotia vs. Team Saskatchewan, 4:00pm

Battling for the title of B-Side Gold, Team Nova Scotia took on Team Saskatchewan.  The first period was a close game with Nova Scotia leading the game 2 to 1 going into the second period. Despite the small lead, Team Nova Scotia fell behind when Team Saskatchewan scored 5 goals in the second period to take the lead. Building on the momentum from the second period, Team Saskatchewan solidified their lead with two third period goals, catapulting them into the lead and clenching the B-Side Gold title.

FINAL SCORE: NS 2 vs. SK 8

Game 25: Team British Columbia vs. Team First Nations, 5:30pm

For Game 21, Team British Columbia took on Team First Nations. Team First Nations, came out of the gates strong with a three point lead at the end of the first period. The teams continued to fight for the coveted win, and were pretty evenly matched throughout the second period. It wasn't until the third period that Team First Nations capitalized on their lead and scored an additional three goals, securig their game winning spot. 

FINAL SCORE: BC 5 vs. FN 8

Game 26: Team Ontario Lacrosse Association vs. Team Alberta, 7:00pm

Tournament leader, Team Ontario took on Team Alberta for the championship title. With high scoring games throughout the tournament, Team Ontario, continued their winning streak, defeating Team Alberta with a score of 13-1. Kean Moon (19) of Team Alberta scored his teams one and only goal in the second period. Wrapping up a week of excitment showcasing some of Canada's best lacrosse, Team Ontario was awarded the tournament championship for the 2016 Bantam Box Lacrosse Nationals.
