Skyward teams up with Front of Yonge Elementary school

Every Thursday for six weeks the Grade 4/5 class from Front of Yonge elementary school walks to our clinic to participate in a 45 minute yoga class taught by our instructor, Alison Farmer, and then another 45 minute session with Erin Ostler, our registered dietitian, to learn about nutrition and make delicious snacks.

The week 1 and 2 recipes are listed below...try them on your family and friends!

BABANANA PENGUINS 

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1-2 tbsp. Smucker’s Magic Hard Shell chocolate sauce
  • 6 orange M&M’s
  • 4 Greek yogurt chips
  • Decorative black icing

TIP:

  • Place bananas in fridge prior to using

OR

Place in freezer for 20-30 minutes prior to using

               - This will help the chocolate sauce harden faster.

  • Once finished, put penguins in the freezer for a few minutes to fully harden the chocolate sauce.

 

GREEN MONSTER SMOOTHIE!

 Ingredients

  • 1  cup – milk, 1% or skim
  • 1 cup – spinach, fresh
  • ½ cup – yogurt, plain
  • 1 – banana
  • 1-2 – kiwi, peeled
  • ½ – small avocado, peeled
  • ¼ cup – orange juice*
  • ¼ cup – egg whites, pasteurized
  • 1-2 tsp. – vanilla extract
