It was a beautiful sunny day and the great City of Portland crew had completed their work.  The new playing surface at Walker Stadium was ready for seeding.

Portland deserves a major league quality baseball field and now they'll have one.  This is where the Portland Pickles of the new Great West League will play their home games starting next June.  This sand based field will be one of the absolute finest in all of summer college wood-bat baseball.

It wasn't just grass seed that was blown onto the sand.  The grass was mixed with nutrients needed to feed the grass.  With sunny weather and temperatures in the 70s expected for the next week, grass may be growing within five days, but more likely it will be a week or so before the grass takes over.

Soon the additional renovations will take place.  There'll be new chair back seats, a new scoreboard, new concession stands, a kids play ground and more, as one of the most exciting ball parks in the country takes shape.
