Canadian Lacrosse Nationals Set to Converge on Halifax

Date:  Source: CLA National Tournaments

The 2014 Founders' Cup, the Canadian Lacrosse Association's (CLA) Junior 'B' National Championship, is set to take place August 19-24 in Halifax's historic Halifax Forum.

Set right in the heart of Halifax, the Halifax Forum will be the home of the best junior 'B' lacrosse players in all of Canada as seven teams from across the country faceoff against one another to claim the title of National Champion.  Competing as representatives of their home member association the seven teams are the Red Deer Rampage (Alberta), the S.W.A.T. (Saskatchewan), the Blizzard (Manitoba), the Six Nations Rebels (Ontario), the Seneca WarChiefs (Iroquois Lacrosse), Team Quebec (Quebec) and Team NS (Nova Scotia).

With twenty-four games happening over the course of six days, Halifax will convert to HaliLAX becoming an epicentre for some of the best Canadian box lacrosse action this summer.

The host team, Team Nova Scotia, looks to continue their momentum and growth from last year's fourth place finish.  They open their championship run on Tuesday against the Red Deer Rampage at 2p.m. and then take on the Manitoba Blizzard at 8p.m.  Meanwhile defending champions, the Six Nations Rebels, look to defend their title to make it four straight championship titles, opening their championship run against the S.W.A.T at 2p.m.  The event concludes Sunday August 24 with the championship gold medal game where the winner will take home the title of Canadian National Junior 'B' Lacrosse Champion.

"Lacrosse Nova Scotia is honoured to be host of the 2014 Founders' Cup," said Mike Hayes, Lacrosse Nova Scotia President.  "The Founders' Cup represents a rich history of great lacrosse being playing throughout the country and is emblematic of the founders of organized Lacrosse.  Hosting the 2014 Founders' Cup in a historic venue such as the Halifax Forum seems like a perfect fit; HaliLAX residents have the opportunity to experience what the great game of lacrosse is all about."
