ALPENA, Mich. - Colton James’ goal at 1:32 of the third period stood as the game-winner as the Berkley Bruins downed the Alpena Flyers 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the Northern Lights Arena to earn a series win and their fifth win in six games against Alpena this season.

Tim Muhsman also scored for Berkley and Nolan Kare, making his debut in the Bruins’ net, finished with 34 saves for the win.

"Today was a solid effort from the boys," James said. "Hard work and grind won the last two games. We picked our heads up after the first game Friday night and worked to finish them off the last two games."

"It was a good weekend getting two wins on the road," added Bruins' head coach Dan Pszenyczny. "The guys played a very sound positional game today. We moved the puck well and took advantage of our situation. Nolan also played very well in net for us today."

Nick Baranyai recorded Alpena’s lone goal and netminder Everett Calendine stopped 34 shots as well.

Berkley stays on the road next weekend, traveling to Decatur, Ill, to play two against the Blaze. Game times are 8:30 p.m. Saturday and then 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
