Chicago, IL - With the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup this summer, another great match has been added to the landscape. On Sunday, July 6, 2014, Soldier Field in Chicago will host an international friendly between Liga MX teams Cruz Azul and Pumas UNAM presented by Coors and brought to you by the Chicago Mustangs professional indoor soccer team, in coordination with the Socio MX Tour series. The game, which will feature two of Mexico’s top squads, is set to kick off at 2:00 PM CST, and will sure to be a highlight on the lakefront during Fourth of July Weekend.
Cruz Azul are the current CONCACAF Champions, as well as sitting atop the point’s board of the Liga MX. They are truly a phenomenal team, featuring star players midfielders Pablo Berrera and Marco Fabian, and forward Christian “Chaco” Jimenez. The team was named best offense and defense for Liga MX in 2014 and has the 2nd highest TV viewership rating in the US. With the capability to score goals coming from both ends of the pitch, the entertainment value of a ticket to this match will be very high.
The Chicago Mustangs, just coming off an international championship of their own (winning the Professional Arena Soccer League’s Ron Newman Cup Championship) are excited to be a part of the business team on this venture. Tickets for this once in a lifetime stateside match are set to go on sale by Monday, May 12, 2014, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
