New Ownership for Texas Strikers Announced
Date: Jul 22, 2014
The Harrisburg Heat will introduce their new head coach in an 11 a.m. press conference Wednesday in the Large Arena at the State Farm Show Complex & Expo Center.
The new coach replaces Richard Chinapoo, the indoor soccer icon and Heat Hall of Famer who led the Heat in the first two seasons of the franchise’s return to pro indoor soccer. Chinapoo resigned at the end of the 2013-14 season to join his family in Miami and be closer to his native Trinidad & Tobago.
Under Chinapoo, the Heat were 10-22 in their first two seasons in the Professional Arena Soccer League and finished last season one win shy of reaching the playoffs.
The Heat will be entering the third season of their modern era, joining the 24-team Major Arena Soccer League that is a blend of the best teams from the PASL and six teams from the recently dissolved Major Indoor Soccer League.
Chinapoo’s successor will be introduced by John Wilsbach, the award-winning broadcaster from Middletown who became the Heat’s owner and team president prior to the 2013-14 season.
MEDIA NOTE: Media attending Wednesday’s press conference may enter the Large Arena through its Cameron Street doors.
