New Ownership for Texas Strikers Announced
Date: Jul 22, 2014
The Hidalgo La Fiera are all that stand between the Chicago Mustangs and a perfect season. Chicago eliminated the Cleveland Freeze 10-3 before 3,863 at the Sears Centre Arena.
Chicago (16-0) and Hidalgo (14-2) were the league's two top-seeded teams and both teams have advanced, not only to the Newman Cup final, but the US Open final as well. Sunday's game will be winner-take-all for both trophies.
Cleveland (10-6) never led today and fell for the fourth time in four tries against the Mustangs.
Bryan Moya, Miguel Vaca, and Victor Sanchez each scored twice for Chicago, who built a 3-0 first quarter lead.
Cleveland slowed down the Mustangs offense and even held league MVP Efrain Martinez scoreless. Martinez had scored at least three points in each of his last 12 games.
