Last Season: Although the 09-10 hockey season at Taft was not as successful as originally hoped, there were times of great triumph both on and off the ice for Ryan. As a senior, he started and finished the season strong and was one of the leaders looked at to perform. With his great skating ability, puck moving skills and control, Collier provided his team with sought after assets that contributed to the fluidity of the team. He consistently won battles in his own end while effectively transferring the puck up the ice, either through skating or passing. The speedy defenseman also put his versatility on display when he played as a forward on the power play. However, more was expected from a personal and team level which will highly motivate the small but fierce defenseman to be better during the 10-11 season. As a side note, Ryan was one of the lucky players to have taken part in the first ever Fenway Park outdoor hockey game on Dec. 21st, 2009 in Boston. More on Collier: The Dutch native started playing hockey at the age of four and dominated hockey in Holland during his nine years of playing for the Amsterdam Tigers. The desire for a challenge and better hockey brought him to Montreal during the summer of 2004. He then was able to play for the Bantam AA West Island Royals during his first year. This success continued as Ryan played another year of Bantam AA and then proceeded to the Midget Espoir Royals and Midget AAA Lac St. Louis Lions. Not only was there success on the ice but also in the classroom, where he was able to overcome linguistic difficulties and become an Honor Student at John Rennie High School every year
