Mat Ponto played for the Snakes from 2005-07, turning in 67 points in 108 games. In 2005-06, he led all SPHL defensemen with a +36 rating and finished fourth in the league among defensemen in points scored with 42. For the 2007-08 season, he left the Snakes to play in Germany but has elected to return to Columbus for the 2008-09 season.
