Dickson stymies Cornwall, Ottawa wins 2-1Ed Lumley Arena Thu, Feb 22, 2007 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ottawa Senators relied on the sparkling performance of Matt Dickson in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Cornwall Colts. Cornwall's power play was ineffective against Ottawa's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Senators were led by Ryan Medel, who racked up one goal. Medel scored 13:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Aaron McLeod assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:34 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Ottawa's offense rang up 41 shots on the Colts' net. Joey Manley also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Mark Smith, Hubert Genereux, and Jamie Cavanagh, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall was led by Darcy Findlay, who scored the team's only goal. Findlay scored on the power play 15:51 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Colts earned a power play opportunity when Jonathan Grandinetti was put in the box for slashing. Burke MacDonald picked up the assist. Matt Dickson made 27 saves for the Senators on 28 shots. Ottawa totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors and went 1-for-8 on the power play. For the Senators, Andre Chenier and Zach Farris were ejected from the contest. Marco Raimondo recorded 39 saves for Cornwall. The Colts ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major. Team's Mark Williams and Findlay were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
