Gibson nets hat trick, leads Ottawa to 7-0 win over Carleton Place

Mitchell Gibson netted a hat trick to lead the Ottawa Senators over the Carleton Place Canadians, 7-0.

Gibson's first goal came 3:50 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:31 into the second and at 15:07 into the second.

With the win, Ottawa avoided elimination to make the series score 3-3 in the best of seven series.

The Senators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Carleton Place to score on any of its four power plays.

Ottawa additionally got points from Jody Sullivan, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Ottawa also got a goal from Jaren Burke as well. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Alexandre Way, Daniel Sarracco, Dean Hewines, and Jim Pearson, who contributed one each and Isaac Anderson and Zacharie Car, who each chipped in two.

Ian Andriano made 20 saves for Ottawa on 20 shots. The Senators incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Canadians' starting goalie, Colton Point, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Michael Leach, who stopped four shots. Carleton Place incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
