Ottawa falls to Carleton Place in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Carleton Place Canadians pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Ottawa Senators on a clutch goal by Lucas Batt.

The win gave Carleton Place a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Canadians came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Carleton Place fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Ottawa's Jim Pearson at 4:54 in the second period. The Canadians knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jaren Burke at 1:35 in the third period.

Carleton Place was led by Batt, who grabbed one goal. Batt scored 14:39 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Carleton Place. Jacob Moreau picked up the assist.

Carleton Place also had goals scored by Logan Buchanan, Bryce VanHorn, and Tim Theochardis, who each put in one. More assists for Carleton Place came via Jordan Larson, who had two and Braedyn Asselstine and Brett Murray, who each chipped in one.

The Senators forced the Canadians goalie Colton Point to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Ottawa also got points from Burke, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mitchell Gibson also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Sean Rappleyea, Isaac Anderson, Jody Sullivan, Louis-Charles Croteau, and Zacharie Car, who contributed one each.

Colton Point made 33 saves for Carleton Place on 36 shots. The Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ian Andriano rejected 26 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
