Pawley leads Caledonia over Waterloo, 5-2

Corey Pawley was all over the ice for the Caledonia Corvairs, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Caledonia's 5-2 win over the Waterloo Siskins.

Pawley found the back of the net 24 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia and again while on the power play 5:03 into the third to make the score 4-2 Caledonia.

The win gave the Corvairs a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Caledonia stifled Waterloo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Corvairs' offense rang up 38 shots on the Siskins' net.

Caledonia additionally got points from Mitchell Fitzmorris, who also registered one goal and one assist and Matthew Hore, who also finished with two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Blake Luscombe, who had two and Ryan Moran, Jordan Brown, and Chadd Bauman, who contributed one each.

Waterloo forced Caledonia goalie Mark Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Siskins' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to the Corvairs' power play unit.

Waterloo was helped by Luke Gazzola, who grabbed one goal. Gazzola scored 17:32 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jared Lindsay assisted on the tally. Anthony Pullicino also scored for Waterloo. More assists for Waterloo came via Lucas Goodman, Austin Bentley, and Owen Kipke, who each chipped in one.

Mark Sinclair made 30 saves for Caledonia on 32 shots. The Corvairs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mitchell Datz recorded 33 saves for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
