Mark Manchurek gave the Leamington Flyers the lead in the first period, and the London Nationals was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1. Manchurek provided Leamington with the game-winning tally when he scored 16:27 into the first period.The win gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Leamington was paced by Manchurek, who registered one goal. The Flyers kept London's goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Hughes made 38 saves on 40 shots. Leamington also got a goal from Liam Hogan as well. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau and Mitchell Amante, who contributed one each. The Nationals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Leamington power plays. London was led by Matt Doty, who scored the team's only goal. Doty scored on the power play 10:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Nationals earned a power play opportunity when Mark Gangnon was put in the box for high sticking. Brenden Trottier provided the assist. Tyler Wall made 20 saves for Leamington on 21 shots. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. London incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
