Stratford blows out Waterloo, 8-3

The Stratford Cullitons had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Waterloo Siskins.

The win by Stratford clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Cullitons forced Siskins' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots and forcing 36 saves. Bailey DeGasperis made 36 stops and Mitchell Datz made zero.

Waterloo kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Brooks-Potts made 32 saves on 35 shots.

The Siskins were helped by Austin Bentley, who grabbed one goal. Bentley scored 4:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. Andrew Lane picked up the assist. Waterloo also had goals scored by Conner Jean and Lucas Goodman, who scored one goal each. More assists for Waterloo came via Nate Schnarr, who had two and Nick King and Nick Hirst, who each chipped in one.

The Cullitons totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Stratford, Maverick Petrie was ejected from the game. Waterloo totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Siskins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joel Penticost was ejected from the game.
