Caledonia downs St. Catharines in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Tyler Hill gave the Caledonia Corvairs a 5-4 (OT) victory over the St. Catharines Falcons when he scored 10:22 into the extra period.

The win gave Caledonia a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Corvairs came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Caledonia trailed 4-2 after a goal by St. Catharines' Romaeo D`Intino at 5:05 in the third period. The Corvairs knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Hill at 13:19 in the third period.

Caledonia forced the Falcons goalie Joel Horodziejczyk to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Caledonia additionally got points from Corey Pawley, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Quentin Maksimovich, Matthew Hore, and Todd Ratchford, who contributed one each and Blake Luscombe, Mitchell Fitzmorris, and Jordan Brown, who each chipped in two.

St. Catharines was helped by Anthony Postiglione, who tallied one goal. Postiglione scored 5:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Mitchell Webb provided the assist. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Jake Evans and Nicholas Dozzi, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Cole Langan, who had one and Tyler Jackson and Brandon Cercone, who each chipped in two.

Mark Sinclair rejected 20 shots on goal for the Corvairs. Caledonia totaled 43 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luscombe was ejected from the game. Joel Horodziejczyk made 38 saves for the Falcons on 43 shots. St. Catharines incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
