Ottawa rolls over Hawkesbury, 6-1

The Ottawa Senators were firing on all cylinders against the Hawkesbury Hawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Senators emerged with a 6-1 win.

The win by Ottawa broke a deadlock and gave the Senators a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Hawkesbury was stymied by Ottawa's netminder Ian Andriano, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. Andriano certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.94 entering the contest.

The Hawks were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as the Senators were able to score four times while on the power play.

Ottawa managed to hold Hawkesbury's power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage.

The Senators were helped by Zacharie Car, who finished with one goal. Car scored 18:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Isaac Anderson provided the assist. Ottawa also got points from Mitchell Gibson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ottawa also had goals scored by Daniel Sarracco, Jody Sullivan, Merrick Rippon, and Jim Pearson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ottawa came via Elie Boulerice, who had one, Sean Rappleyea, who had three, and Luke McCaw and Jaren Burke, who each chipped in two.

The Hawks were led by Chris Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored on the power play 14:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Hawkesbury had taken the advantage when Ottawa's Geoffrey Lawson got sent off for holding. Ryan Jackson picked up the assist.

The Senators ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major. For Ottawa, Burke was ejected from the game. Cole Skinner made 24 saves for the Hawks on 30 shots. Hawkesbury ended with 29 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major. Team's Jacob Drobczyk and Reid Murphy were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
