Andriano stymies Hawkesbury, Ottawa wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Ian Andriano helped the Ottawa Senators defeat the Hawkesbury Hawks, 4-1.

The win gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Senators' penalty kill excelled, as Ottawa gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Senators were led by Louis-Charles Croteau, who racked up one goal. Croteau scored short handed 6:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Ottawa played down a man on Merrick Rippon's high sticking.

The Senators stifled Hawkesbury's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ottawa kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Tucci made 32 saves on 36 shots.

Ottawa also got points from Hunter Gunski, who also registered one goal and one assist, Luke McCaw, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Mitchell Gibson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Daniel Sarracco and Jody Sullivan, who contributed one each.

Hawkesbury's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Ottawa power plays. The Hawks forced the Senators goalie Andriano to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Hawkesbury was led by Brett Everson, who scored the team's only goal. Everson scored 12:27 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Bruno Cheff assisted on the tally.

Ian Andriano made 30 saves for Ottawa on 31 shots. The Senators incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Hawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
