Oakville rolls over Burlington, 4-1

The Oakville Blades had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Burlington Cougars.

The win gave Oakville a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Blades were led by goalie Brendan McGlynn, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. McGlynn managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.51 prior to the game.

Oakville was led by Michael Mannara, who finished with one goal and one assist. Mannara scored 6:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Oakville. Christian Rajic provided the assist.

The Blades' offense rang up 33 shots on Burlington's net.

Oakville additionally got points from Rajic, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Oakville also got a goal from Evan Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Patrick Kudla and Brendan Doherty, who each chipped in one and Ryan Foss and Tyler Rollo, who contributed two each.

The Cougars were led by Zac Herrmann, who scored the team's only goal. Herrmann scored on the power play 3:11 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Oakville. Burlington had gotten the advantage when Oakville's Peyton Reeves was sent off for cross checking. Andrew Lee picked up the assist.

The Blades incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Cougars' Lee stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Burlington incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
