Kingston rides Richer to victory over Markham, 4-1

David Richer stood on his head and made 41 saves to lead the Kingston Voyageurs to a 4-1 victory over the Markham Royals.

The win gave Kingston a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Voyageurs were paced by Danny Bosio, who grabbed one goal. Bosio scored 11:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. Jacob Hanlon assisted on the tally.

Kingston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Markham to score on any of its three power plays. The Voyageurs' offense rang up 34 shots on the Royals' net.

Kingston additionally got points from Anthony Rinaldi, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Connor Cobbold, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Cole Langfield as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Connor Bebb, Jakob Brahaney, Austin Boulard, and Ian Harris, who each chipped in one.

Markham excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Royals forced Kingston goalie Richer to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Markham was led by Marco Azzano, who scored the team's only goal. Azzano scored 5:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Markham. Tyson Bruce picked up the assist.

The Voyageurs incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Scott Smith made 30 saves for the Royals on 33 shots. Markham incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
