Kingston rips Markham, 4-1Markham Centennial Centre Fri, Mar 18, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Markham Royals had trouble finding ways to stop the Kingston Voyageurs, which beat Royals, 4-1. The win gave Kingston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Voyageurs were led by goalie David Richer, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Richer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.81 entering the contest. Kingston was led by Zachary Emelifeonwu, who racked up one goal. Emelifeonwu scored 16:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kingston. Austin Boulard provided the assist. The Voyageurs forced Markham's netminders to work without much rest, ripping 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Marcus Semiao made 13 stops and Scott Smith made 18. Kingston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Royals to score on any of their three power plays. Kingston also got points from Jacob Hanlon, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ian Harris, who also had one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Brandon Nadeau as well. More assists for Kingston came via Danny Bosio, who had two and Josh Hardiman and Connor Cobbold, who each chipped in one. The Voyageurs were unable to stop Markham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Royals eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Markham was led by Jonathan Prasnjak, who scored the team's only goal. Prasnjak scored 17:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. Aaron Spivak picked up the assist. Kingston incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Royals incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
