Brett Schaefer tallied one point to lead the Waterloo Siskins to a 4-1 victory over the Kitchener Dutchmen. The win gave Waterloo a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Siskins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kitchener to score on any of its five power plays. The Dutchmen were unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Waterloo also had goals scored by Joshua Slegers, Conner Jean, and Lucas Goodman, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Anthony Pullicino, who had two and Luke Gazzola, Nick Hirst, Ryan Sparkes, and Nate Schnarr, who each chipped in one. Kitchener's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Waterloo power plays. The Dutchmen were led by Connor Cole, who scored the team's only goal. Cole scored 7:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Ryan Migliaccio picked up the assist. Mitchell Datz made 24 saves for Waterloo on 25 shots. The Siskins ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Waterloo, Gary Mantz was ejected from the game. Luke Richardson recorded 31 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cole was ejected from the game.
