Miami University wins tough contest against Grand Valley State University, 3-2

In a losing effort, Grand Valley State University were sparked by Taylor Lampar, who had two goals. Lampar scored the first of his two goals at 10:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grand Valley State University. Kendra Myers assisted on the tally. Lampar's next tally made the score 2-1 Grand Valley State University in the third period. Tea Greca picked up the assist.

Miami University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lakers to score on any of their three power plays.RedHawks kept Grand Valley State University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lauren Allen made 32 saves on 35 shots.

Miami University were helped by Becca Senden, who racked up one goal.Senden scored on the power play in overtime to make the score 3-2 Miami University. Ireland Mooney provided the assist.Miami University also got points from Mooney, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Miami University included Alyssa Visalli and Senden, who scored one each. More assists for Miami University came via Kaley Mooney and Natalie Hornbuckle, who contributed one apiece.

RedHawks's defense shut down Lakers's forwards for much of the game, and Lakers got off only 13 shots during the contest.

In addition, Grand Valley State University received assists from Myers and Greca, who each chipped in one.

Emalee Wills recorded 11 saves for Miami University. RedHawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Grand Valley State University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
