Huge game by O Marra boosts Stoney Creek over Brantford, 7-2Brantford Civic Centre Fri, Mar 25, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stoney Creek Generals' Ryan O Marra had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 7-2 win over the Brantford Blast. O Marra scored on the power play 10:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek. Stoney Creek earned a power play opportunity when Mark Taylor was put in the box for holding. Sean Blanchard assisted on the tally. O Marra dished an assist on Matt Smith's goal that made the score 1-1 at 2:07 into the second period. He added another helper on Nathan Pageau's goal that made the score 7-2 Stoney Creek at 16:04 into the third period.After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Brantford faces elimination next time out. The Blast's power play was ineffective against the Generals' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Brantford was unable to stop Stoney Creek from sending pucks towards the net, and the Generals eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Stoney Creek took advantage of the Blast's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The defensemen of the Generals were also effective in Brantford's zone, and came away with two goals. Stoney Creek additionally got points from Smith, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Pageau, who also registered one goal and three assists, and Blanchard, who also tallied two goals and three assists. Jarrett Konkle also scored for Stoney Creek. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Nikola Bibic, Tyler Donati, and Andrew Radjenovic, who each chipped in one. The Blast kept Stoney Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Svedin made 33 saves on 35 shots. Brantford was led by Chris Rebernik, who grabbed one goal. Rebernik scored on the power play 19:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. The Blast had taken the advantage when the Generals' Ryan Healy got sent off for head contact. Brandon Dietrich picked up the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Dustin Alcock as well. More assists for Brantford came via Sam Milligan, Joel Prpic, and Jamie Williams, who contributed one each. Stoney Creek ended with 47 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Generals, Healy and Justin Sawyer were ejected from the contest. Anthony Marshall rejected 30 shots on goal for Brantford. The Blast ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Brantford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Shayne Salmon was ejected from the game.
