Stoney Creek holds on for 5-3 win against Brantford

The Stoney Creek Generals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brantford Blast on the way to a 5-3 win.

A goal by Nathan Pageau put Stoney Creek up 5-2 in the third period, but Brantford pulled to within two on Joel Prpic's tally 8:49 into the third period.

The win gave the Generals a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Jarrett Konkle had a great game for Stoney Creek, netting two goals. Konkle's tallies came at 34 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stoney Creek and 16:37 into the second to make the score 4-2 Stoney Creek.

The Generals' offense rang up 40 shots on the Blast's net.

Stoney Creek also got points from Pageau, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Matt Smith as well. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Sean Blanchard, who had two and Nikola Bibic, Marcus Ruberto, Chris Knighton, and Justin Donati, who each chipped in one.

Brantford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Blast forced Stoney Creek goalie Daniel Svedin to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Brantford additionally got points from Brandon Dietrich, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Dave Russell and Shayne Salmon, who contributed one each.

Svedin rejected 31 shots on goal for the Generals. Stoney Creek incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Anthony Marshall made 35 saves for Brantford on 40 shots. The Blast incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
