Hawkesbury downs Smiths Falls in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Hawkesbury Hawks' Charles Levesque scored 5:25 into overtime to beat the Smiths Falls Bears, 5-4 (OT).

The win by Hawkesbury clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The defensemen of the Hawks were also effective in Smiths Falls' zone, and came away with four goals.

Hawkesbury was led by Ryan Jackson, who had two goals. Jackson scored the first of his two goals at 3:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Vincent Crivello picked up the assist. Jackson's next tally made the score 4-4 with 7:11 left in the third period. Adriano Leone assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also had goals scored by Damien Charette and Ryan Bunka, who each put in one. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Jonathan Cyr and Jonathan Tecce, who each chipped in one.

The Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Smiths Falls was led by Corey Caruso, who registered two goals. Caruso scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. The Bears had gotten the advantage when the Hawks' Reid Murphy was sent off for roughing. Anthony DiPlacido picked up the assist. Caruso's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Hawkesbury with 8:42 left in the second period. Smiths Falls earned a power play opportunity when Bruno Cheff was put in the box for tripping. Matthew Kenney assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Sterling Bray and Michael McKenney, who scored one goal each. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Chris MacMillan, who had two and Broydon Stufko, Jared Henry, and Joey Rutkowski, who contributed one each.

Cole Skinner recorded 26 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Bears took out Evan DeBrouwer after he had made six saves and installed Dyllan Lubbesmeyer in goal, where he finished with 10 saves and the otl. Smiths Falls incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
