Georgetown falls to Orangeville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Alder St. Recreation Centre Sun, Mar 06, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Orangeville Flyers pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Georgetown Raiders on a clutch goal by Kosta Likourezos. The win moved Orangeville to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. Jack Jeffers was all over the ice for the Flyers, as he finished with two goals in the win. Jeffers scored at 14:22 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Orangeville and again while 8:22 into the fourth to make the score 6-4 Orangeville. Orangeville forced Georgetown goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Orangeville also got points from Ethan Wiseman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Orangeville also got a goal from Zack Lyons as well. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were James Ranson, Liam Winslow, Josh DeFarias, Lucas Smilsky, Derek Topatigh, Travis Brown, and Ryan Barbosa, who each chipped in one. The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Flyers were unable to stop Georgetown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Georgetown was led by Matthew Cairns, who grabbed two goals. Cairns scored the first of his two goals at 10:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brendan Jacome provided the assist. Cairns' next tally made the score 4-4 with 56 seconds left in the third period. A roughing penalty on Matthew Barnes had put the Raiders on the power play. Jordan Crocker assisted on the tally. Georgetown additionally got points from Crocker, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Daniel Hardie also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Ryan Takamatsu, who had one and Jack Jacome and Josh Dickinson, who each chipped in two. Orangeville's Ruan Badenhorst stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Flyers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Andrew Masters made 36 saves for Georgetown on 41 shots. The Raiders incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
