Behind a great game by Austin Kemp, who had two goals and one assist, the London Nationals defeated the Strathroy Rockets, 7-2. Kemp found the back of the net 3:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 London and again while on the power play 6:40 into the second to make the score 3-1 London.The win gave London a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Nationals forced Rockets' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots and forcing 44 saves. Dane Gubbels made 24 stops and Dan Davies made 20. London also got points from Max Vinogradov, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for London included Scott Dorion, who had two and Callum Ruddock and Kevin Madden, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for London were Alex Cimino, Kyle Robinson, Rai Di Loreto, Jordan Di Cicco, Matt Bean, and Brenden Trottier, who each chipped in one and Tanner Ferreira, Tyler Sehovic, and John Adams, who contributed two each. Strathroy was led by Noah Tooke, who tallied one goal. Tooke scored on the power play 1:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. The Rockets had taken the advantage when London's Ferreira got sent off for delay of game. Evan Hogg assisted on the tally. Strathroy also got a goal from Dillon Saunders as well. More assists for Strathroy came via Dalton Good, Shane Bulitka, and Nick Griffin, who each chipped in one. Zack Weir made 21 saves for the Nationals on 23 shots. London incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Strathroy incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
