Trenton's Fargey deadly on offense in 6-2 win against Newmarket

Behind a great game by Hunter Fargey, who had two goals, the Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Newmarket Hurricanes, 6-2.

Fargey scored on the power play at 6:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton and again while on the power play 12:29 into the first to make the score 2-0 Trenton.

The win by Trenton clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Golden Hawks forced Newmarket's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 33 shots and forcing 27 saves. Dalton Ewing made 27 stops and Aidan Doak made zero. Trenton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Trenton also got points from Quinn Lenihan, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Trenton also got a goal from Lucas Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Kevin Lavoie, who had three, Adam Clements, Keaton Ratcliffe, Nick Boddy, and Curtis Harvey, who contributed one each, and Mitch Emerson and Danny Hanlon, who each chipped in two.

Penalties took their toll on the Hurricanes, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Newmarket was helped by Marty Lawlor, who registered one goal. Lawlor scored 3:52 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Trenton. Mitchell Duggan provided the assist. Max Routledge also scored for Newmarket. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Alex Ierullo, Ryan Young, and Blake Coffey, who contributed one each.

Jackson McIntosh made 10 saves before being replaced by Daniel Urbani, who took the win and made 16 saves. The Golden Hawks ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For Trenton, Chays Ruddy and Ratcliffe were ejected from the contest. The Hurricanes ended with 43 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. Team's Steve Mariani and Ewing were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
