Port Perry rides Chandler to victory over Clarington, 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Brett Chandler helped the Port Perry Mojacks defeat the Clarington Eagles, 4-1.

The win gave Port Perry a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Mojacks' Chandler was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 35 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Chandler will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.31.

Port Perry was led by Graham Lamers, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Lamers scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:13 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Port Perry. The Mojacks had gotten the advantage when Clarington's Ben Pitchforth was sent off for boarding. Lucas Berkers assisted on the tally. Lamers' next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Port Perry with 6:43 left in the third period. Dan Harris picked up the assist. Port Perry additionally got points from Chris Polito, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ethan Ramsden also scored for Port Perry. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Kyle Schweda, who had one.

The Eagles' offense rang up 36 shots on Port Perry's net.

Clarington was led by Brodie Myers, who scored the team's only goal. Myers scored on the power play 9:24 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. The Eagles had taken the advantage when the Mojacks' Ben Sheremeta got sent off for slashing. Cody Kean provided the assist.

Port Perry incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Mojacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff St. Pierre was ejected from the game. Zack Wainman recorded 19 saves for Clarington. The Eagles incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
