Huge game by Panzeca boosts Chatham over St. Thomas, 7-2Chatham Memorial Arena Sun, Mar 06, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Devin Panzeca had one goal and two assists to lead the Chatham Maroons to a 7-2 victory over the St. Thomas Stars. Panzeca scored 1:40 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Chatham. Gus Ford assisted on the tally. Panzeca dished an assist on Ford's goal that made the score 4-1 Chatham at 6:23 into the third period. He added another helper on Ford's goal that made the score 5-1 Chatham at 9:43 into the third period.After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, St. Thomas faces elimination next time out. The Stars were unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Chatham also got points from Ford, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Chatham also had goals scored by Steven Beenackers, who had two and Austin Thompson and Declan Conway, who each put in one. More assists for Chatham came via Ross Krieger, who had two and Michael Douglas, Connor Koviak, Teddy McGeen, Michael Levesque, and Cory Bussing, who contributed one each. St. Thomas' offense rang up 33 shots on Chatham's net. Team could not crack the Maroons' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Stars were led by Adam Truax, who registered one goal. Truax scored on the power play 15:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. St. Thomas had taken the advantage when Chatham's Connor McKinnon got sent off for roughing. Matt McJannet picked up the assist. Nathan Ferris also scored for St. Thomas. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from James Newland and Carson Brookshaw, who each chipped in one. The Maroons' Brendan Johnston stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Chatham incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. For the Maroons, Dede Cato was ejected from the game. Dan Black made 30 saves for the Stars on 36 shots. St. Thomas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
