Calgary Inferno rolls over Les Canadiennes, 8-3

Calgary Inferno had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over Les Canadiennes.

The win gave Calgary Inferno a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Rebecca Johnston was all over the ice for Calgary Inferno, as she tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Johnston scored the first of her two goals at 2:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Calgary Inferno. Brianne Jenner assisted on the tally. Johnston's next tally made the score 7-2 Calgary Inferno with 10:12 left in the third period. Aina Takeuchi picked up the assist.

Calgary Inferno additionally got points from Jenner, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Calgary Inferno included Jessica Campbell and Blayre Turnbull, who scored two goals each. More assists for Calgary Inferno came via Sarah Davis, Jacquie Pierri, Meaghan Mikkelson-Reid, Jill Saulnier, and Louise Warren, who contributed one each and Brigitte Lacquette and Hayley Wickenheiser, who each chipped in two.

Les Canadiennes kept Calgary Inferno's goalie busy throughout the game, and Delayne Brian made 38 saves on 41 shots.

Les Canadiennes was helped by Marie-Philip Poulin, who tallied one goal. Poulin scored on the power play 7:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Les Canadiennes had taken the advantage when Calgary Inferno's Jenner got sent off for slashing. Caroline Ouellette assisted on the tally. Les Canadiennes also had goals scored by Kim Deschenes and Noemie Marin, who each put in one. In addition, Les Canadiennes received assists from Cathy Chartrand and Ann-Sophie Bettez, who contributed two each.

Calgary Inferno incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Charline Labonte made 18 saves for Les Canadiennes on 25 shots. Les Canadiennes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
