Waterloo outlasts Listowel, 5-3

The game between the Waterloo Siskins and the Listowel Cyclones was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Waterloo emerged with a 5-3 win.

The Siskins gained the winning advantage on a goal by Conner Jean 15:03 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win gave Waterloo a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Jean had a great game for the Siskins, netting two goals.

Listowel was unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Waterloo also got points from Lucas Goodman, who also had one goal and one assist and Nate Schnarr, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Waterloo also got a goal from Anthony Pullicino as well. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Joshua Slegers, who had two and Andrew Lane, Nick King, and Gary Mantz, who contributed one each.

The Cyclones' offense rang up 40 shots on Waterloo's net. Listowel got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Cyclones were helped by Tim Nauta, who registered one goal. Nauta scored 13:54 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Waterloo. Jakob Lee picked up the assist. Listowel additionally got points from Kade Landry, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Blake Nichol also scored for Listowel. More assists for Listowel came via Keaton Willis, Brady Anderson, Caleb Warren, and Holdyn Lansink, who each chipped in one.

Mitchell Datz recorded 37 saves for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Siskins, Goodman was ejected from the game. Tyler Fassl made 28 saves for Listowel on 32 shots. The Cyclones incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
