Skinner nets hat trick, leads Elmira to 6-2 win over Guelph

Ethan Skinner netted a hat trick to lead the Elmira Sugar Kings over the Guelph Hurricanes, 6-2.

Skinner notched his first tally 16:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:32 into the third and at 9:22 into the third.

With the win, Elmira evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Guelph's 14 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Hurricanes let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Sugar Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Guelph power plays.

Elmira also got points from Rob Kohli, who also had one goal and two assists, Jeff Jordan, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Zac Coulter, who also registered one goal and four assists. More assists for Elmira came via Kalob Witzell and Mackenzie MacSorley, who contributed one each.

Guelph was led by Corson Searles, who racked up one goal. Searles scored 17:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stefano Pezzetta assisted on the tally. Nicholas Bird also scored for Guelph. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Sean Power, Cameron Palmer, and Tyler Burns, who each chipped in one.

Jonathan Reinhart recorded 24 saves for Elmira. The Sugar Kings ended with 49 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Elmira, Ty Biles was ejected from the game. Jason DaSilva made 18 saves for the Hurricanes on 24 shots. Guelph ended with 71 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major. Team's Chris Poletek and Ryan Waterhouse were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
