Guelph downs Elmira in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Guelph Hurricanes pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Elmira Sugar Kings on a clutch goal by Cameron Stokes.

The win gave Guelph a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Stokes had a great game for the Hurricanes, netting two goals. Stokes' tallies came at 3:08 into the third period to make the score 1-1 and 8:00 into the third to make the score 2-1 Guelph.

Guelph's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Guelph stifled Elmira's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hurricanes kept the Sugar Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jonathan Reinhart made 42 saves on 44 shots.

Guelph also got a goal from Cameron Palmer as well. More assists for Guelph came via Chris Poletek, Kevin Gergely, and Alex Ritchie, who each chipped in one.

Elmira's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Guelph power plays.

The Sugar Kings were led by Mackenzie MacSorley, who scored the team's only goal. MacSorley scored 13:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Rob Kohli provided the assist.

Guelph's Jason DaSilva stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Hurricanes incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Guelph, Ryan Waterhouse was ejected from the game. Elmira incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
