The Ancaster Avalanche pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Thorold Blackhawks on a clutch goal by Owen Burnell. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Thorold faces elimination next time out. Ancaster was led by Burnell, who registered one goal and one assist. Burnell scored 19:52 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Ancaster. Max Balinson assisted on the tally. The Avalanche kept the Blackhawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Astorino made 46 saves on 49 shots. Ancaster additionally got points from Ben Hughes, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Joshua Pace also scored for Ancaster. More assists for Ancaster came via Reilly Webb, who had two. Thorold's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Ancaster power plays. Ancaster was unable to stop the Blackhawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Thorold eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Blackhawks were helped by Anthony Merante, who grabbed one goal. Merante scored on the power play 15:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. A tripping penalty on Pace had put Thorold on the power play. Anton Trublin picked up the assist. Thorold also got a goal from Jake Lloyd as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Quinn Geddes and Brendan D`Agostino, who each chipped in one. Cole Ceci recorded 43 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Blackhawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
