Blenheim survives penalties, beats Amherstburg, 5-1Blenheim Memorial Arena Sat, Feb 27, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Blenheim Blades, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals' power play opportunities and emerged with a 5-1 victory. The win by Blenheim broke a deadlock and gave the Blades a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Blenheim was sparked by Matt Clark, who registered one goal. Clark scored on the power play 1:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Blenheim. Corbin Hagerman assisted on the tally. The Blades' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Amherstburg power plays. Blenheim forced Amherstburg goalie Connor Meyerink to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Blenheim additionally got points from Owen Bateman, who also registered one goal and one assist, Kier Cumming, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Drew Marlatt, who also had one goal and one assist. Nick Delyzer also scored for Blenheim. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Kirk McKillop, Brayden Hopkins, Zack Horvath, and Dustin Maines, who each chipped in one. The Integrity Admirals were led by Ryan Holzel, who scored the team's only goal. Holzel scored 41 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg. Travis Campbell provided the assist. Klinton Kenney rejected 21 shots on goal for the Blades. Blenheim incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Connor Meyerink made 34 saves for Amherstburg on 38 shots. The Integrity Admirals incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
