The Essex 73s jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Mooretown Flags, 8-1. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Mooretown faces elimination next time out. Essex was led by Dalton Langlois, who tallied one goal and one assist. Langlois scored 15:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Essex. Tyler Scott assisted on the tally. The 73s put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Flags to score on any of their five power plays. Essex kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 40 saves on 48 shots. Essex additionally got points from Scott, who also grabbed three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Essex also had goals scored by Brett Vorshuk, Anthony Cristofaro, Phil Janikowski, and Griffin McCarty, who each put in one. In addition, Essex received assists from Riley Meyerink and Adam Gaiarin, who each chipped in one and Cody Leeming, Eric Shaw, Matthew Hebert, and Tyler Boughner, who contributed two each. Mooretown also got a goal from Jakob Reeves as well. More assists for Mooretown came via Landon Wilson, who had one. The 73s' Trevor Wheaton stopped 14 shots out of the 15 that he faced. Essex incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Flags ended with 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Mooretown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joe DeSena was ejected from the game.
